Inna
I connected with Inna on Model Mayhem, and we set up a Spring shoot at my studio.
Inna is professional and I knew right away that our time would be productive. She arrived on time, which is always appreciated, with a small suitcase. As we settled in, we talked about her modeling activity. Inna is a professional traveling model; it’s what she does. I like working with people who are strictly focused on modeling because they “get it.” A confident, experienced model settles in quickly, asks questions, understands the answers ,and engages. It’s easy and efficient.
We started with some headshots and casual fashion. Despite Inna having very dark hair, I posed her in a black background. These tend to blend, but with the right lighting I can still pop out the highlights enough not to lose dark hair completely. Moving along, we started capturing nudes, and Inna dropped comfortably into classic poses, so I simply followed along. I find that this approach in response to a subject posing builds connection and tempo, especially in the beginning of the session. You’ll see that Inna has a great figure for this work and is very self-aware. With that success, we moved into the stairway of the old factory building and shot natural light art nudes there. One of my favorite things to do!
The Takeaway: You can see in the very first frame that Inna has a lovely, classic look. I used1-2-3 lighting here, which is typical for me to use for headshots as it gives full lighting for themask of her face, leaves the shadows in place, and picks up her hair with the kicker
Leather and Bottom
Inna had a nice leather jacket that day, and we used it in frame 80 for a cute shot with her bare bottom peeking out from under.
Shadows and Grace
In frame 162, you see that she is well aware of her pose in this classic B/W art nude. The shadows are graceful and perfectly placed
Light and Shadow
One of my faves in this shoot is 419. It’s a single light shot with lovely shadows. I love the way that in the left side of the frame , but for me it’s the way that the light and shadows are one way on the left side of the frame and completely reversed on the right.
